
Making Sure Your IR Lamps Actually Fit Your PET Machine
If you run a PET blowing line, you know the drill. You need heat—and lots of it—to get those preforms soft enough to blow without accidentally melting the plastic into a puddle. It’s a delicate balance. We built our quartz IR lamps to be simple. No guesswork. They’re designed to be drop-in replacements for about 95% of the machines out there. We didn’t focus on the flashy stuff; we focused on the things that actually matter when you’re standing on a loud shop floor trying to get a line back up and running. The nuts and bolts of it Compatibility usually comes down to two things: will it fit in the slot, and will it blow a fuse? We make our tubes in the same lengths and diameters as the big European and Asian brands. But the power side is where people usually get tripped up. We offer everything from standard 220V to high-output 400V setups. Here’s the thing: if you shove a 2500W tube into a circuit meant for 1500W, you’re going to trip your breakers. It’s that simple. That’s why we match the wattage exactly to your transformer, so your power grid stays stable and your machine stays on. What’s inside the glass We use high-purity quartz. Why? Because these lamps go from cold to screaming hot in seconds, and cheap glass just cracks under that kind of pressure. Inside, we use halogen-filled tungsten filaments. This stops the glass from turning dark and cloudy over time, meaning the heat keeps hitting the plastic with the same intensity for thousands of hours. As for the connections, we use R7s and Sk15 bases. They aren’t fancy. But they’re the global standard for a reason—they seat firmly in the socket and they don’t arc. The reality of the heat These shortwave lamps pack a punch. They deliver massive heat density, which means your preforms heat up faster and you get more bottles per hour. But there’s a catch. All that power creates a lot of waste heat. If your cooling fans are clogged or your ventilation is weak, you’re going to cook the lamp housing and kill the filament early. It’s a trade-off you have to manage. We keep these in stock because we know that when a tube burns out, every minute of downtime is money leaking out of your pocket.
