It runs at the matched voltage and watt density the SFL 4/4 expects, so the closed-loop temperature control doesn’t fight you. The short-wave infrared emitter responds quickly, raising preform surface temperature without cooking the core. The quartz envelope and R7s connector are specced to match the blower’s thermal expansion and mounting geometry. Put it together and you get repeatable heat-up in the tunnel, with less drift across production runs.

The practical details
Installation is straightforward, but the lamp has to be aligned to the reflector and the preform path. Get that wrong and you’ll see hot and cold bands. Make sure the lamp voltage matches the SFL 4/4 heater circuit, and check the connector—corrosion or a loose contact will give you intermittent heating. Keep the lamp and reflector clean; dust and bottle residue kill output faster than most crews expect. Lamp life is finite, so plan replacements around scheduled maintenance. That’s how you avoid the unplanned stop.
