The way we think about baking is changing. For a long time, we’ve just relied on blowing hot air around or waiting forever for a heavy stone to warm up. But these carbon fiber infrared lamps? They’re different. They hit 300°C in a matter of seconds. It’s not some magic trick—it’s just how shortwave radiation works. The secret is in the filament. Instead of using the usual nichrome wire, these lamps use carbon fiber. Carbon doesn’t hold onto heat the way metal does; it just lets it go. The moment you flip the switch, the filament peaks instantly. The best part? The heat actually penetrates the food. You aren’t just heating the air; you’re hitting the pizza directly. This gives you that perfect, charred crust without turning your toppings into dried-out cardboard. A word of caution on the hardware. To get that kind of heat that fast, you need a lot of power packed into a small space. It creates a seriously concentrated heat zone. Just make sure your oven is actually built for it. If your insulation is cheap or missing, that external casing is going to get hot—fast. You don’t want any surprises when you reach for the handle. Getting them installed (and keeping them alive). The good news is that these usually slide right into standard R7s sockets. It’s a quick swap. We use high-purity quartz for the glass tube because it protects the filament from oxygen and lets the infrared energy pass through without getting blocked. But here is the catch: carbon fiber is brittle. Unlike metal coils, these can snap if they’re shaken too hard. If your oven vibrates or you’re a bit rough during installation, you might break the filament. Treat them gently. Once they’re in and running, though, the guesswork is gone. You get the same heat every single time.
