But there’s a catch. If you just crank up the power through a standard tungsten filament, you get a blinding glare. It’s annoying for adults, but for a baby with sensitive eyes, it’s actually a real problem. Keeping the heat, losing the glare We figured out a way to fix this by tweaking how the light behaves. The honest trade-off Now, nothing is free. When you block out those bright wavelengths to protect your eyes, some of that energy gets absorbed or bounces back into the lamp. You might lose about 5-10% of the raw light output. But let’s be real—you aren’t using a bathroom heater to read a novel. You’re using it to stay warm. The one thing to keep in mind is that these filtered bulbs still get very hot. Just make sure your fixtures are built to handle that heat soak so everything stays safe and steady.
